Introducing the Line Shape Diffuser
Inspired by audio systems used in professional concerts, Sony's unique linear cone creates a linear source and distributes sound energy much more evenly over a wide sound front to better fill the room with sound. This spreads high quality sound farther and wider throughout the room without loss of sound quality.
What does a line diffuser do?
Thanks to the Line-Shape cone, the sound travels further towards the front of the speaker, allowing you to enjoy the same sound quality whether you are in front of or to the side of the speaker. How it works
Unlike conventional speakers, where most of the energy is concentrated in the center of the cone, our unique linear cone refocuses the sound through a narrow aperture. Increasing the sound pressure energy distributes the sound evenly in each direction both farther and wider from the speaker.
What is X-Balanced Speaker Unit?
Unlike the round diaphragm in a conventional speaker, the newly developed X-Balanced speaker unit in the XE200 has a non-circular diaphragm that delivers more sound pressure for high quality sound.
Increasing sound pressure and reducing distortion
The non-circular shape of the unit not only maximizes the driver's diaphragm area, increasing sound pressure for punchier bass, but also reduces driver deflection while maintaining the same sound pressure, resulting in less distortion.
Greater clarity and wider soundstage
In addition, the device's off-center design and optimized weight balance help improve clarity and expand the soundstage.
